The founder of the Dryer Funeral Home was Paul Dryer, who moved to Holly, Michigan, from Muskegon in 1913. Paul Dryer would sing at funerals at the Albert Steinbaugh funeral home which serviced Holly at the time.
After serving in the Armed Forces during WW I, Paul Dryer was approached by 10 residents who asked him to consider mortuary school. Each resindet loaned him $300 to get started. Paul attended the Cincinnati College of Embalming and got his license. Paul begin his funeral business in 1925 on Oakland St. in Holly and was at that location for two years.
In 1927, Paul bought the building where the current funeral home which is located at 101 First St. in Holly, Michigan. The same year, Paul married Harriet Lind and the couple later had two sons -Bruce and Keith.
Paul's son Bruce joined his father in business in 1952 after graduating from Wayne State University College of Mortuary Science. Bruce took over the business after his father's death in 1961.
Bruce Gordon Dryer also graduated from Wayne State University College of Mortuary Science. Gordie bought the business from his father, Bruce, in 1996.
Dryer's Funeral Home can seat over 225 people in the main viewing room with additional rooms if needed. The home was recently remodeled and is non-smoking.
There is also a horse-drawn, antique hearse available for funerals.
