Annabelle M. Dziuba

Annabelle M. Dziuba, age 98 1/2, of Davisburg passed away quietly at home surrounded by her devoted family. Annabelle was a great homemaker and a hard worker who excelled at cooking, gardening, sewing, bookkeeping, and caring for her seven children while always keeping her Irish sense of humor. She was a devout Catholic with firm beliefs and longtime parishioner of St. Rita’s in Holly, starting with Father Cyril Rancourt, who as a new priest, had baptized several of her children when they lived in Detroit and attended St. Bonafice. She was the daughter of Martin and Mary Minton of Bolton, MI and one of eleven children. She attended the school built by her Irish grandfather. “Dear”, as she was called by her family, wanted to be a nurse but when the war broke out, she went to live with an older sister in Detroit, and became a young “Rosie the Riveter” at age 17. She recalled how she had to take several trolley cars and bus to get to and from work, making parts for fighter planes. Later she went back to work on the family farm to help while her brothers were in the service. Annabelle met her husband Felix at a dance in Posen, MI, married in Alpena, MI on January 17, 1944, and had two small children before he was drafted and sent to Korea in WWII. After the war, they moved to Detroit and then Clawson before settling in Davisburg with their seven children, who all attended Holly Schools before going on to college. Annabelle will be dearly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her sister; Margaret Arpin of Alpena, MI, Children, Dianne Parrish of Davisburg, MI, Janice (Don) Jones of Greenbrier, AR, Dorie Mather of Grand Blanc, MI, Felix Wayne Dziuba of Brevort Lake, MI, Lonnie Hosler of Hale, MI and Davy Dziuba of Mayville, MI; 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren and one on the way. Annabelle was preceded in death by her husband, Felix; daughter, Phyllis (Terry) Gouza; grandchildren, Matthew Jones, Danyese Parrish LaClair, Robert Parrish, April Gouza, Christopher Parrish and Kyle Dziuba; great-grandchild, Trevor Mahan and great-great granddaughters, Caroline and Josephine Cox. Visitation will be at Dryer Funeral Home on Wednesday, October 26th from 2PM-7PM with Rosary at 5PM led by Father David Blazek. There will be a funeral mass Thursday, October 27, 2022, at St. Rita’s Church in Holly at 11AM. The committal service will be at 12:30 PM at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, followed by a luncheon at The Villagers Restaurant in Holly. The family would like to express their appreciation to Father Dave Blazek and the staff of St. Rita’s and Trinity Hospice for their loving support and care. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to St. Rita’s Catholic Church, Holly, MI.
