In Loving Memory of Our Father, Donald Lee Lucas With broken hearts and deep sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved father, Donald Lee Lucas, who left us peacefully on December 21, 2024 at the age of 94. He was born on May 30, 1930 in Detroit, Michigan and lived a life full of love, laughter and Tiger baseball. Donald was the epitome of a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather. His love for his family was boundless, and he devoted his life to loving, nurturing, and supporting those he loved. Known for his kindness, love of Tiger baseball, and collecting autographed Tiger baseballs. Everyone who knew him loved his sense of humor and his loving heart. He touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him. Dad loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, rabbit hunting, camping, bowling and golf. He loved traveling with us each summer to various places in the United States. He also loved traveling with our mom, Joyce, during their retirement and even made a trip to Europe. He also enjoyed watching us participate in our various sports and other activities as well. Dad met mom at Holly Elementary. Dad worked as a custodian for many years and would clean mom’s classroom. Mom was known to leave candy in her desk drawer for dad. Then dad changed positions to delivering food to all of the Holly Area Schools. He was blessed to have 2 children, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. They brought him so much joy and always asked what they were doing. He was also looking forward to meeting a new great granddaughter in February. He loved holding them in his lap, giving them hugs and kisses, and talking to them in his Donald Duck voice. His face would always light up big when they came into view. A service to celebrate his remarkable life will be held on December 23, 2024 at 2:00PM at Dryer Funeral Home with a visitation from 11:00AM-2:00PM. Family and friends are invited to join us as we honor his memory and the lasting legacy of love he leaves behind. A wake will follow at Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice in honor of our dad. We are forever grateful for the time we had with him and the countless laughs and lessons he gave us. His love will continue to guide us, and his memory will live on in our hearts.
