Larry L. Binkley

Larry Lee Binkley, 77, of Holly went home to our Lord on March 16, 2025. Born on July 21, 1947 in Piggott, Arkansas to James L. Binkley & Virgilee (Book) Binkley, who soon moved to Flint, Michigan to raise their family, where Larry grew up. Larry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather & friend. As an avid outdoorsman, Larry was used to adventures of many, this one going home to his Lord, is the greatest adventure of all. On June 15, 1968 Larry married the love of his life Claudia J. Hanson. The adventures of love & life started then. Larry and Claudia had 3 beautiful children whom they raised together at their home in Holly, their family grew by many over the years. Their children/grandchildren were not the only ones to call him Dad/Grandpa however. He was known to many as Dad, Grandpa, Papa and Mr.Binkley as he was a man that was admired and respected by all who knew and loved him. He was one to take others under his wing and show them the “Binkley” way of doing things right. Larry worked for General Motors as a machine operator from 1967-2004 when he retired. He created lifelong friendships during his time at GM, friendships that grew into family. That family turned into many hunting, fishing and golfing excursions. Larry was also an active bowler & bowled with many family and friends in leagues. His passion for the outdoors spread into his life as a father, grandfather & great-grandfather where he shared his love with family vacations, fishing and hunting trips and always attending any and all sporting events his children, grandchildren & great grandchildren were a part of. The memory of Larry will live on through his loved ones. He is survived by his wife Claudia Binkley, children Jessica (Corey) Duvernois, Jason Binkley, Grandchildren Chelsea (Clay) Philpot, Brion Binkley, Steven Binkley, Jacqui (Mike) Southerland, Ashley Burk & Lindsy Burk and their children, Great-Grandchildren Elijah, Taylor & Piper, Sisters Sue (Phil) Smitley & Melba Wilson, In Laws Mike Galonska, Terri Binkley, Victor (Pam) Hanson, Richard Hanson and Special Friend Ray “Swanie” Swanson and many other nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was preceded in death by; his parents James L.Binkley & Virgilee Binkley, his Daughter Angela L. Binkley-Burk, Mother & Father in Law Conrad E. Hanson & Emelia O. Sand-Hanson, his Sister Denise “Dee Dee” Galonska and his Brother James “Mike” Binkley and Special Friend, Pete Thayer. Larry was also preceded in death by many wonderful in-laws, friends and other family that we know he is rejoicing with in his new found life with Christ. A visitation will be held on Thursday March 20, 2025 from 4:00-8:00 p.m at Dryer Funeral Home in Holly,MI. A Funeral will be held on March 21, 2025 at 11:00 at Trinity Lutheran Church with a visitation an hour prior 10:00 a.m in Fenton, MI followed by a burial at Lakeside Cemetery in Holly, MI. In "Lieu of Flowers" the family asks donations be made to United Veterans of Michigan by making checks payable to “United Veterans of Michigan”.
