Mary Jean Pierce

Mary Jean {Schoenhals} Pierce, age 82, of Davisburg, MI, passed on to be with Jesus, in the early morning hours of October 23rd, 2024. Mary Jean was born in Pontiac, MI on March 9th, 1942 and lived in Drayton Plains until she was 6 years old. She then moved with her parents, Cliff and Gwen Schoenhals to Davisburg, MI where she grew up with two brothers, Robert, who married Judy and Tim, who married Eleanor. Her Dad ran a hardware store to support their family. She attended Davisburg Elementary and graduated from Holly High School in 1959. She attended Spring Arbor Junior College until 1961 and then graduated with a bachelor’s degree in teaching from The University of Michigan, Flint in 1963. During her school years, she met John Pierce, who became her high school sweetheart and eventually her wonderful husband on September 20th, 1963. They were married until July 9th, 2007, when John went home to be with the Lord. She is survived by three children, Wendy, married to Chris Bresnahan {1990}, Aaron, married to Ben Holdredge {2024} and Connie, married to Dave Beneteau {2004}. Her grandchildren are Caitlin, married to Michael Fahlgren {2014}, Sean, married to Sarah Stansbury {2024} and Kian Bresnahan; River, Clayton and Gavin Pierce; and Micah, Eliana and Noah Beneteau. Her great grandchildren are Felicity and Nathaniel Fahlgren. Over the years she enjoyed playing the organ for the First Baptist Church of Davisburg, where she also taught Sunday School and AWANA. Later, she also played the organ at Waterford Community Church. She used her degree to teach first grade at Davisburg Elementary, Kindergarten at Springfield Christian Academy and Preschool/Director at Crosshill Community Preschool. After 6 years of homeschooling, she worked as a receptionist at Jack Van Impe Ministries. She enjoyed traveling cross country with John and her kids, sewing, water aerobics, handbell choir and church choir. She had a deep love for the Lord and was faithful to teach her children and grandchildren about Him. We will deeply miss her for her love, laughter and time spent with all of us. We have been truly blessed to have her in our lives. Visitation will be at Dryer Funeral Home, 101 First St., Holly, MI on Saturday, October 26th from 2 to 7 pm and her funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 27 at 2 pm following visitation from 1 to 2 pm.
