Maurice "Mo" L. Lackey

Maurice (Mo) Lackey (3/11/41-4/5/23) Holly, MI Maurice, “Mo,” was born on March 11, 1941 in Pontiac, Michigan. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many. He was preceded in death by parents Alton and Julia Lackey and his son Mark Lackey. Mo is survived by his wife Judi Lackey (married 57 years), daughters Shelley Hart (Mark) Hepler, Kelcey (Paul) Harrington, daughter in law Julie Lackey, brother Alton (Nan) Lackey and sister Sandra Lackey (Ralph) Jarvis. He has eleven grandchildren (Jon, Sarah, Nicole, Chantel, Alaina, Katharine, Thomas, Dylan, Hailey, Aidan, Makensie), eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Mo had a 39year career with General Motors Product Engineering in Pontiac, Warren and Flint. He began as a journeyman Metal Model Maker and became a Senior Supervisor for most of his working career, retiring in 1998. He served in the US Army from 1966-1968 stationed at Rheinmein Air Force base outside of Frankfort, Germany. He volunteered his time as a fire fighter with Waterford Township Fire Fighters in the 1970’s. Mo was a friend to all he met and particularly enjoyed golfing with friends, woodworking, keeping his lawn and yard perfected, spending time with his beloved dogs and especially loved being around his family. He supported all of Judi’s hobbies providing woodworking and gardening labor (he particularly “loved” the annual digging up of the dahlia bulbs). He was a fun loving practical joker that boasted of being kicked off some of the best golf courses. He was a friend and neighbor that was always there to help anyone in need (Judi always suspected the ulterior motive was to avoid house work). Military services will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly Michigan at 1:00pm on April 13, 2023. Following the service will be a gathering to share stories and celebrate Mo’s life at Battle Alley Brewing Company in Holly (approximately 2pm).
