Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputy Nicholas L. Dotson (32 years old), fought valiantly but lost his battle with Wilms Tumor Cancer on Sunday, December 17th, 2023. Nick was born in Lansing, MI and graduated Holly High School in 2009 where he met his high school sweetheart Delaney. They were together for 15 years, facing every challenge life threw at them together. He loved her profoundly in a way not many people get to experience. He spoke about her with a light in his eyes and a smile on his face. Nick was deeply excited to become a father and in July 2023, they welcomed their perfect son, Sullivan Beau Dotson. He was the best father and Sully Beau’s favorite person. Even when Nick was experiencing unimaginable pain, he still found a way to play with his son and make him feel special. He worked for the Oakland County Sheriff’s Department for almost ten years. Throughout his career he met many wonderful coworkers who became family to him. That is a bond that will never die, they surrounded him with unwavering love to the very end. Nicholas made an impact on everyone he met. His kindness, patience, and generosity were unmatched. He gave a laugh so willingly and wholeheartedly. He had the best laugh. He lit up every room he was in, putting everyone at ease with his smile and quick wit. He was ready to make every situation fun and make you laugh during it. Nicholas is survived by his wife Delaney (Nester), their infant son Sullivan (Sully), mother Dawn (Kernen) Dotson, father Robert J Dotson Jr. (fiance Kathy), brothers Robert III, Kyle, and Alexander, his Grandpa Kernen, Grandpa Dotson, Grandma Lulu (husband Jim), aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his Grandma Kernen. He had the great fortune to have a second family that loved him as well in Delaney’s family. Her parents, Greg and Robyn Nester, siblings Travis Nester (and family), Karlie Davidson (and family), Chelsea Horne (and family), and Bailey Cubba (and family) thought the world of him. A visitation will be Friday December 22, 2023 from 2-5PM and 7-9PM at the Dryer Funeral Home in Holly, MI. The funeral service will be held on Saturday December 23, 2023 at 11AM with Pastor Ed Pedley officiating at the Dryer Funeral Home in Holly, MI.
