Ronald R. Beebe

Ronald R Beebe, age 78, of Rose Township, MI passed away on October 24th, 2023. In recent years, he had battled COVID which very nearly took him but he was a fighter. He returned home but never fully recovered. As a result, his last few months were spent at Woodland Park Senior Assisted Living in Flint. Ron was a lifelong resident of Rose Township on his family farm that was once a fruit orchard with one of the largest barns in Oakland county. Ron had worked at GM Buick Assembly Plant, UAW Local 599 for over 30 years and was able to enjoy retirement for more than 25 years. The most apt description of Ron is that he was a character. Everyone who met him would remember him from his colorful clothes to his coon skin and Captain Nemo hats that he loved to wear. He would frequently stop by for a chat or to tell you about a new interest that he had read about. His many hobbies included painting, model boats and submarines, model trains, and playing board games. He had a special love for “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea”. His own painting of “The Nautilus” was once hung in Disneyland, California. He also made a model of “The Nautilus” that required thousands of hand tapped rivets and is over 7 feet long! He was a member of the Detroit Model Railroad in Holly as well as the RC submarine and boat club. In addition, he loved to read and had a many and varied library of books. Furthermore, he had a keenness for both mythical and normal creatures. He always had a dog over his lifetime and housed many cats. Regarding mythical, he had much regalia including his large Bigfoot statue (cemented down after a few incidents) in his front yard. Ron always dressed the Yeti in the attire of the coming holiday. Ronald was preceded in death by his father, Elvin Beebe and mother, Florence Beebe (Cole), and his brother, Emerson. He is survived by his niece, Dorothy Carroll and great nephew, John. He will be greatly missed by his special friends, the Konopka Family, John Wineland, Kevin Garth, Dennis Donovan and John Paul Maziarz and a great many other friends and acquaintances. Visitation will be at Dryer Funeral Home, Holly, MI on November 2 from 2pm to 7pm. A funeral Mass will be held on November 3 at 11am in St. Mary Magdalene in Brighton.
