Curtis E. Heckert

February 16, 1960 - March 19, 2020

On Thursday, March 19, 2020, Curtis Heckert, loving brother and father, suddenly passed away at the age of 60 in his home of natural causes. Curtis was born on February 16, 1960 in Detroit, MI to Eugene and Martha (Deeb) Heckert. He received his Associates Degree in Welding Technology and was certified in Robotics and Automation Technology as well. Curtis was a respected Senior Metallurgical Laboratory Technician for GKN Driveline, Inc. for 35 years in Auburn Hills and Sloan Valve Co. in Novi for less than a year engineering water efficiency products. Curtis was preceded in death by his father, Eugene, and his mother, Martha Mary (Margie). He is survived by his daughter Samantha and her fiance, Tyler Loos, his two brothers, Mark and Craig and sister in laws, Tina and Lea, and several cousins. Curtis had a passion for history, music and inventions. He loved to tinker with mechanical things. He also engineered his own outdoor wood furnace, and enjoyed spending time in the natural elements of his back yard. He was a devoted father and beloved brother. His knowledge and skills were much admired not only by friends and family, but also by all who encountered his intellect and amazing projects displayed. He was also an avid music lover and a collector of unique vehicles and enjoyed rebuilding projects. He was affectionately known for his quick wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. Due to the current State of Emergency, funeral services are cautioned until further notice.
