Daniel Holt of Holly, MI passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 20th, 2017 in Grand Blanc, MI. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Born July 2nd, 1954 in Pittsburgh, PA to Chauncey Holt and Louise Conrad. He was raised by Louise and Michael Kohut. He graduated Plymouth-Salem High School class of 1972, graduated the United States Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY class of 1976, and received a Master of Education from Monmouth University, West Long Branch, NJ in 1988. He was married 25 years to Debra Slazas. He retired from a career in service work at Beaumont Health. Dan was an easy-going and happy person that brought joy into the lives of his friends and family. Dan was an intelligent man with a deep fondness for film, music and the study of history. The sounds of his trumpet served as the score to his life. A lifetime University of Michigan fan, Dan was proud to witness his youngest daughter receiving her degree from the institution in 2011. Dan is survived by his wife, Debra Holt, his children, Matthew Holt, Michael Holt, Melissa Holt, and Michael Slazas, and his two grandchildren, Johnathan Slazas and Damian Slazas. He was pre-decreased by his daughter Annemarie Slazas. His children through marriage were loved equal to his children through birth. A private service among immediate family is being held on Thursday, June 22nd, 2017. Final arrangements are being prepared by Dryer Funeral Home of Holly, MI.
