George L. Downing, age 89 of Bay City formally of Holly, died Fri., Jan. 27, 2017. Funeral services will be held Mon., Jan. 30, 2017 at 7:00 PM. Visitation will be from 4-7 PM before the service. Mr. Downing was born Aug. 7, 1927 in Holly, MI to Charles and Esther (O'Donahue) Downing. He was a veteran in the Army and Merchant Marines during WWII. Mr. Downing was a member of the Michigan Bar Assoc., an avid sailor and world traveler. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Leiphart. George is survived by his children Carl Downing of Iron Mt., Lori (John) Zimcosky of Bay City; grandchildren John II (Laura) Zimcosky, Brian Zimcosky; and great-grandchild Nicholas Zimcosky; and his sister Kathleen (Robert) Horton of Fenton.
