She was the third eldest of this union having two older sisters, Mariam and Shari Knoll, and seven brothers: Orial (Marsha), Nicholas, Paul (Tomyko), Robin, Kenneth, David, Mark (Kim). Three siblings have preceded her in death, Mariam, Robin and David. Minga was baptized at Madonna Church and raised in the Catholic faith. She was educated in the Catholic education system attending K- 8 at St. Gregory’s and 9 – 12 at Madonna. She later achieved a Master of Social Work degree from Wayne State University. Minga was deeply family orientated and held family gatherings for each of the holidays (ex. Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, etc..). Minga was passionate about her hobbies: gardening (maintaining both vegetable and flower gardens), shopping, sewing, cooking, and embroidery. Furthermore, Minga enjoyed traveling to many exotic places around the world and creating memories with family and friends. On September 28th, 1962, Minga was united in holy matrimony to lifelong partner Colin Henry Jones at Madonna Church, in Detroit, Michigan. They were blessed with five children: Melvin, Colin, Ricardo, Carmelita (Varick), and Roderick. Minga was a devoted wife and mother who demonstrated her love for her husband and family in her daily actions. Along with occupying her home, she worked full time until retiring from the State of Michigan as a Clinical Social Worker. Minga also opened her home to more than five foster children from Catholic Social Services. When friends and neighbors would ask Minga and Colin why they opened their home to so many children, they would reply, “We get back more than we give!”. She leaves to cherish and mourn her memory, her children; her seven grandchildren: Erin, Morgan, Lara, Sofia, Colin, Ricardo, and Varick; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who greatly enriched her life.
