Osmanys Castillo-Osorio

March 14, 1979 - July 11, 2016

OSMANYS CASTILLO OSORIO (CUBA), 37 Osmanys Castillo Osorio passed away on Monday, June 11, 2016 due to a motorcycle accident. Osmanys was born on March 14, 1979, in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba in South America to Nieves Castillo Osorio and Diosvanys Gonzales. In 1994, at 15 years old, Osmanys swam across Guantanamo Bay to Florida and soon after settled in Michigan. He learned the trades of Construction and Roofing with his friend, Rico, and was a dedicated and hard worker. Together with his friends, he loved to bowl, hunt, fish, and spend time on the beach. His former boss, Francisco Saldana and his wife, Shelly, welcomed him into their home in Pontiac, MI, and loved him as though he was their own son. In 1999, while living in Pontiac, Osmanys met Cynthia Beeler, whom he later married on May 12, 2002. In the same year, Osmanys and Cynthia moved to Holly, MI. Osmanys and Cynthia separated in 2004, but remained married and kept in touch with each other. Russell Steven Johnson and his wife Dawn took Osmanys into their home in Holly, and, again, treated him like their very own son. Osmanys’ passion for life was contagious and he was loved by everyone who knew him. Osmanys is survived by 7 children and two stepchildren. Children: Sunni Dominique (16), Olivia Jane (15), Shailoh Destiny (13), Selah Diane (11), Keegan Mateo (10), Soloman Draconis (9), and Mena Rojas (9). Stepchildren: Samantha Danielle (24) and Sabrina Darlene (22). Osmanys will be remembered by many people including acquaintances, family, dear friends, co-workers, and the mothers of his children: Cynthia Castillo-Osorio, Heidi Davenport, Andrea Smith, and Samantha Jackson. Osmanys was preceded in death by his father, Diosvanys Gonzales. The family would like to recognize Robert Hillman, Osmanys’ close friend and co-worker, for creating a GoFundMe account online, hosting a benefit dinner, and securing a pavilion at Seven Lakes to offset the funeral costs. The family would also like to thank Dawn Johnson for assisting Cynthia with funeral arrangements and fundraising. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tues. July 19, 2016 at the Dryer Funeral Home, Holly, with Bishop Sherman Beeler and Bishop Louis Beeler officiating. Visitation will be from 2-9 PM Monday. Memorial donations may be made to Go Fund Me/ Last Respects for (Cuba) Osmanys or given to the family. www.dryerfunersalhomeholly.com
