Vera Marie Marcola

Vera Marie Marcola, age 80 "It's fine, I'm fine, everything is fine." Surrounded by the love of her family, Vera Marie Marcola passed away on April 3, 2022. Vera was born August 23, 1941 in Detroit, the daughter of the late Stanly and Lucy (Demereski) Slupski. Vera met the love of her life, Dennis Marcola at St. Rita's Catholic High School, they married on September 3, 1960. Vera and Dennis joyfully celebrated sixty years of marriage prior to Dennis’s passing in 2021. The two of them raised their family in Oxford, enjoyed retirement in Tawas and eventually moved to Estero, Fl. In addition to being an avid Christian, Vera was artistically gifted and had an eye for detail especially when it came to crocheting. Her talents in crafting covered a wide variety of mediums often getting her family to join her making crafts with her or her winning hand at a game of cards. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Terry Laidlaw, Greg (Tammy) Marcola, Karen (Mel) Schantz, Joe (Marcie) Marcola, Pam (Mike) Duff; 14 grandchildren, Dave (Meg), Mike (Annette), Beth (Jeff), Andrew, Ben (Amanda), Spencer (Bridgette) Alicia, Jessica, Joshua, Chase, Kallie, Kelsey (Travis), Dana, Jessica; 13.5 great- grandchildren, Ezekiel, Everly, Gabe, Virginia, Michelle, Claire, Charlotte, Lucy, Tucker, Sawyer, Addyson, Norah, Janie and a baby on the way; siblings, Mary Szmigiel, Eleanor (Brian) Berridge, Jim (Susan) Slupski, Martha (Greg) Lyon. In addition to her parents and husband, Vera was preceded in death by one grandson, Alex; sister-in-law, Claudette and brothers-in-law, Ronald and George. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 8, 2022 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Fenton presided by Father Robert Copeland celebrant. The family will be present to receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
