Charles Wilson Burley

On May 28, 2024 Charles W. Burley took his last “Great Ride” in this lifetime. Chuck, or “Burley” (as he was fondly called) was a wonderful husband, father, uncle, neighbor and friend. Chuck was born on January 10, 1945 and began his “great ride” early in life on bikes, horses and Cushman scooters. He worked hard, played hard, made us laugh and was dedicated to his family, his pets and everyone he met in his life. He had an incredible gift for problem-solving, as well as mechanical and electrical ingenuity-he could fix anything! He continued his “great ride” at a personal and professional level throughout his life. He served in Vietnam in the US Air Force, earning several awards, before beginning a rewarding long-term career with Detroit Diesel Allison, General Motors, the GM Proving Ground and Quantum Alt Fuels. He loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycles, flying private planes and driving his Corvettes. He loved his Cigarette off-shore racing boat, snowmobiles, pontoon boats, tractors, military vehicles, trucks-and anything else powered by a motor! He loved building, repairing, designing, engineering or fixing anything for work or play! He loved his music-especially country or patriotic- the louder the better! He loved family and friend get-togethers, any of his kids sporting or school events, community events and parades, and any celebration! Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Pearl Burley and his in-laws Charles and Harriet Wilson. He is survived by his loving wife, Katie and loving daughter Laura Clark (Nathan Clark) and loving son Jeffrey Burley; his older sister Barbara (Pat) Murphy; sisters-in-law Jane (Tom) McKenney and Jill (Marc) Wilson-Isaacson. He is also survived by all of his “favorite” nieces and nephews…Paul McKenney, Annie McKenney (Keith Johnson), Anthony McKenney, Joey McKenney, Sarah Castellano (Rob), Allie Isaacson (Arom), Sean Murphy and Kim Murphy and two great-nieces July McKenney-Johnson and Roya Nadjmabadi, as well as many loving friends.
