Floyd Arnold Coponen

Floyd Arnold Coponen passed on to his heavenly home on February 26th 2018. He was born in Detroit, Mi. to Walter and Amanda Coponen December 4th, 1935. Being the ninth child in the family he was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, and three sisters. Floyd is survived by his loving wife of sixty years Lillian and his four sons all whom he loved and cherished, Cullen and his wife Janet of Jackson, Gary and his wife Debbie of Redford, Floyd E. and his wife Lynn of Highland, and Dean (Dino) and his wife Jessica of Holly. Floyd is also survived by his grandchildren that all were very special to him. Eric, Katrina (Chris), Shannon, Kayla (Troy), Gary Jr. (Jessica), Ryan (Madelyn), Amber (Kris), and Courtney. Plus five great-grandchildren that also meant the world to him. Bryan, Chloe, Alexis, Lucy, and Hayden, with little Christopher due in May. Floyd leaves behind many nieces and nephew who all have fond memories of him, two brother- in-laws Richard Trudgeon and his wife Barbara, Bill Trudgeon, and sister-in-law Nancy (Trudgeon) Rugani and her husband Frank. Floyd was in the construction trades his entire working life and made many friends along the way. As Project Superintendent for over thirty years he prided himself on “getting the job done on time” no matter what. He loved his church family and the Highland Congregational Church. He took pride in keeping it in shape with the friends that he met there. Floyd and Lillian enjoyed traveling over the years and could honestly say they went by plane, train, car and motor home. They mostly loved the years they spent on the Honda Goldwing. Floyd enjoyed life to the fullest and dinner out most of the time at his favorite place, The Highland House. Floyd loved his family and they all meant the world to him. He always said “his last breath on earth will be his first breath in heaven “. His family was with him in his last moment before he went to meet his Lord and Savior. Until we meet again, we love you husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Because Floyd wanted to be cremated we were able to donate to Gift of Life Michigan so that Floyd could help others in death as he did his entire life. Instead of flowers we would like donations to go to Gift of Life or the Highland Congregational Church Parking Lot Fund. A memorial service will be held at the Highland Congregational Church on March 24th at 11:30 am with gathering and lunch immediately after.
