Geri Hauswirth of Waterford, MI passed away unexpectedly at the age of 71 on October 22, 2024. Geri was born on June 30, 1953 in Hamtramck, MI to Daniel and Rosemarie Herteg. Geri was raised in Clawson, MI where she met the love of her life and beloved husband, Larry. They were married on October 5, 1974 and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this year. Geri loved the beach, warm weather, boating, the Detroit Lions, sewing, baking, entertaining and most of all loved and cherished being a wife, mother and grandmother. Geri was kind and generous and knew how to make everyone around her feel loved and special. She was a selfless caretaker to all who needed it. She spent much of her life caring for her special needs son, Kevin and her daughter, Stacie. She was the best wife, mother, grandma and friend anyone could ever ask for. She was a PROUD grandma to the light of her life, Oliver and loved baking with him. His love for her is equally as great. She was a “bonus” grandma to many others and cherished that role. Geri was exceptionally talented at sewing, cooking, baking and entertaining and used these talents to make you feel loved and welcomed. Geri was as beautiful inside as she was outside. She was a shining light to all who knew her and she loved her family and friends immensely and it showed in her everyday selfless acts of kindness. She was always thinking of others and always there to lend a helping hand, an ear to listen or a shoulder to cry on. She was a fierce advocate for her son, Kevin and loved and cared for him with everything she had. She was the most dedicated, supportive and caring mom to Stacie and she absolutely loved her son-in-law Brian and grandson, Oliver. Geri had the ability to make people laugh, even in the worst of times. She was kind and compassionate to everyone she encountered and lived to be a “bucket filler.” Her family and friends were her pride and joy and she will be missed beyond measure by all that had the privilege and opportunity to know her. The world is a better place because of her and her endless acts of selflessness and kindness. Geri is survived by her biggest fan, best friend and loving husband of 50 years, Larry, her children Kevin and Stacie (Brian) Houghton, grandson Oliver, her siblings Daniele (Diane) Herteg Jr., Karen (Jim) Cribb, Kenneth (Patricia) Herteg and Gail Shaw and many nieces and nephews.
