James S. Golden

GOLDEN, James Scott (Jim). Age 70, resident of Hersey, MI, formerly from Holly, died January 10, 2024. Jim was born October 15, 1953, in Appleton, Wisconsin. He joined the U.S. Navy right out of High School in 1971 and served four years as an Interior Communications Electrician on two Destroyers and a Submarine Tender. He married Ina Johnson April 20, 1974. Jim retired from General Motors Skilled Trades, Lake Orion in 2006. Jim was clever, witty, and fun-loving with a thirst for knowledge and an impeccable work ethic. He was a giver of advice and a helper to anyone who needed it. Jim would like to be remembered for his love of family, his pride for having served in the U.S. Navy, and his affinity for antique tractors. His request is for everyone to be kind to others, lift people up who need a helping hand, and find some way to pay it forward. Jim is survived by his wife, Ina, daughters Karen (James) Greilich, and Katy Golden, and grandchildren Cooper and Connor Greilich, Ollie Hughes, and brothers Stephen and Phillip. He was preceded in death by both parents and brother John. Visitation Tuesday, January 16 from 4:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. at Dryer Funeral Home, 101 2nd Street, Holly, MI. The family will receive visitors at 12 noon until the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 17. Military funeral at Great Lakes Veterans National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m. Funeral luncheon immediately following the military funeral at the American Legion, 408 S. Saginaw St., Holly, MI.
