Roberta Laatsch

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roberta Luanna Laatsch of Holly on March 19th, 2024. Roberta was 83 years old. She was born in Pontiac, Michigan on August 12th, 1940. The funeral service will be held on Saturday March 23rd, 10am, at The Dryer Funeral Home, Holly, MI. For those that want to attend the Burial will be followed at All Saints Cemetery, Waterford Twp., MI immediately after. Visitation will be on Friday March 22nd, from 1-3pm and 5-7pm. Roberta was a devoted wife to now deceased husband Jerry Donald Laatsch of 60 years. They met at the once famous restaurant Ted's on Woodward where Jerry and his friend would cruise in his black convertible 1958 Impala. They were married on January 24th, 1959. She was a loving mother of three surviving sons, her oldest son Daniel Jerry Laatsch, her second oldest son James Robert Laatsch, and her youngest son David Charles Laatsch. She has 4 grandchildren, Tyler, Chelsea, Ryan, Victoria and 8 great grandchildren. Her parents were Howard and Ethel Travis. She grew up in Pontiac, MI with 6 other siblings Joyce, Helen, Ester, Ernest, Ruth, and Rella in order of their age. Survived by her siblings Ester, Ernest, and Ruth. Roberta started work at Pontiac Bail Bondsman Office while she was just a teenager. While working at the Bail Bonds office, she attended the Pontiac Business Institute where she learned business skills. Jerry and Roberta moved from Waterford to Holly. In 1976 they found a 10 acre parcel in Rose Twp. where Jerry, Roberta and the kids started the process of building a house together. Roberta found enjoyment in decorating and making the house a home. Jerry & Roberta started an electronics sales and service store in downtown Holly called Village Electronics. They sold TV's, stereos, and other electronics and Jerry provided delivery and service both in store and in home. Roberta helped with running the front end of store and scheduled service repairs. The store was opened in 1978 and remained in business until 2011. Roberta enjoyed taking trips with the family back to Jerry's roots in Wisconsin where he grew up and had family. The adventures really began when they purchased their first motorhome, a 1972 Winnebago. The family went on many trips in Michigan, Wisconsin, and many states down south including Florida. Back in 1986 Roberta decided she wanted to purchase a new car. So on one of their trips to Florida, she found the car she wanted, a white Dodge Daytona Z. Since they didn't have a trailer, she had to drive it back home and wouldn't you know, we had a terrible rain shower most of the way home. Quite a drive for the first drive in her new sports car. Roberta really enjoyed family get togethers whether corn roasting from our family garden or just any reason to celebrate holidays or times with family and friends. Jerry roots were from Wisconsin and in Wisconsin they Polka. My mom learned to dance Polka with my dad and loved to go to Frankenmuth whenever they had Polka music or a Polka Festival.
