In Loving Memory of Stan Today, our family lost a truly great man. Stan—beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend—earned his wings after his heart could no longer keep its beat. Although we knew this day would eventually come, nothing could have prepared us for the emptiness of saying goodbye. For 44 years, Stan was a loving husband and partner. Saying goodbye after sharing so much of a lifetime together is almost impossible. He will forever remain in the heart of the woman who loved him, and the memories they created during those 44 years will never be forgotten. To his family, Stan was so many things. He was the mediator, the voice of reason, and the one who could help resolve a conflict when everyone else was frustrated. He was someone you could randomly hug when you needed comfort, and hearing him say, “I love you, baby,” had a way of making everything feel a little better. He was also a man who knew how to find humor in life. Over the years, there were countless jokes, conversations, and moments of laughter—sometimes jokes that only he and one other person understood. Those little moments are now some of the memories his family will treasure most. His loss came painfully fast. There was a conversation before leaving for work, and less than two hours later, he was gone. It is difficult to understand how someone who was just there can suddenly become someone we have to carry with us through memories. For the last 14 years, he was also lovingly known as “Grump.” He became an important part of the family and a grandfather to Jasper. He taught those around him many things, offered laughter when it was needed, and left an impact that cannot be measured simply in years. Right now, there is a mixture of numbness, heartbreak, disbelief, and nostalgia. Memories keep flashing through our minds—the good ones, the difficult ones, the funny ones, and even the ordinary moments that suddenly mean so much more. We don't know exactly how we are going to do life without you, Stan. We only know that somehow, someday, we will be okay, and we will carry you with us as we get there. You were deeply loved, and you will be deeply missed. Fly high, Dad. Fly high, Grump. Nothing can stop you now. You will always be in our hearts, and you will never be forgotten.
